Hello! I may have abandoned this newsletter after DARKEST NIGHT wrapped up, but I did not forget about it! Here is my upcoming appearance schedule, and some sketches. I’ll be at Once Upon a Time Books in LA on Tuesday, October 3, to chat with Sage Cotungo about their webcomic turned graphic novel,
ooh! while not comprehensive, my Tia lives near Dickinson College and I found out through her that they have a digital queer Victorian archive?? like hello?? https://vqa.dickinson.edu/all-items
(John Addington Symonds has this poem called "From Friend to Friend" that makes me giggle and kick my feet in a way i haven't since writing my first johnlock fanfic at 13)
I adore these cats I love when they pour over the edge of something. Viscous. Whiscours (Whiskers but with a Eastern European accent). Also the chubby cat bellies: 10/10; absolutely no notes; you’ve done it again
I've really been enjoying work created during the time period - Oscar Wilde, William Pater, the paintings of Simeon Solomon, Melville (American, but the right era) - but this website is also a treasure trove of resources and book recommendations: https://rictornorton.co.uk/
Those gays do look kinda familiar but you didn’t hear that from me… I adore the designs so much, you’ve piqued my interest in that era too, I think there is just something so fascinating about queer romance and relationships in an era so removed from our own, but still carrying so much of the humanity. I also want a flower hat now…
Fun to hear you’ll be at Thought Bubble too! I’ll be there working on a few bits so I’ll be sure to say hello 😊
I love seeing your art again, thank you for sharing! I might be attending Lightbox; are there going to be any opportunities to meet you/say hi before or after your panels?
also my current creative cycle is drawing individual panels in oil pastel on 12x18 paper (i am not joking you) because for some reason that's the only way i can avoid a stiff af page but sometimes ya just gotta ~*embrace it*~
"if you recognize these characters pretend you didn't"
me: *looks at camera knowingly*

symonds is SO FRUITY I love his work!
Based on your posts here, I have an itinerary already drawn up for you for a trip to Ireland:
-Oscar Wilde House and Oscar Wilde Monument on Merrion Square, Dublin
-National Gallery (it's across the road so you might as well)
-The Shire Pub in Killarney
-A tour of The Burren in Co. Clare (an inspiration for Middle Earth)
it's a plan!

Best of luck with all of the events!
Now I want to know who these characters are!!
It's important to take a break from art every now and then, just like everything else.
Are you familiar with KJ Charles? She writes great queer Victorians (among other eras).
I don’t recognize them, so I’m so curious who these characters are…
What are some good sources for researching queer Victorian England?

*avidly storing the few links in the comments giving sources on Victorian queer culture*
Thank you <3

not sure, but I can definitely stick around after the panel if there's not an official signing :)
