CW: nudity, blood, and spoilers for Gideon the Ninth. Y’all, I REALLY LOVE THIS BOOK (the book is Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir). It’s got a complex plot that refuses to explain itself and deliciously crunchy system of magic and a bizarre, utterly unique setting, and then there are MOMENTS LIKE THIS that somehow check every box I didn’t know I had for ‘weirdo lesbian wish fulfillment’ (😳🙈 what if I was your bodyguard and you were my childhood enemy and I almost died on your behalf while being cradled by a waifish older woman, also magic burned away your clothes but more importantly your ceremonial paint so I could see your face for the first time ever 🙈 😳 and we were both girls?)
Amazing 💀 💖 I read Gideon and harrow both (and loved them dearly) for the first time earlier this year while recovering from facial feminization surgery… boy howdy, is HtN an intense read if you are in the middle of recovering from a bunch of facial surgery, given the content of that book 😅

Besides the content of the book (fantastic!!!), I love the author's writing style, which in its self is genius. I love that Tamsyn Muir is also a pretty obvious 40K nerd.
Also, great costumes! You both look great and ND is the spitting image of Gideon.
The issue with reading these books is.... WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE 3RD AND 4TH BOOKS TO BE PUBLISHED *INCOHERENT QUEER SCREAMS*
We don't even have any Locked Tomb book in France, we crave the lesbians so much in here we read it in english.
Also your fanart makes me want to PUNCH WALLS this scene is so much, (MINOR SPOILER for GtN MAYBE?) the fact that Gideon could just. Cut the link and let Harrow die there. But she doesnt, and suffer for her, cauz, you know, that's what childhood enemies do ???
We just read Gideon the Ninth a couple months ago in my Queer Magic Book Club (which is... exactly what it sounds like) and all of us were equal parts confused and delighted by it. Enemies to ...??? I DON'T KNOW BUT IT FUCKED ME UP, THANK U TAMSYN MUIR. Anyway, I'm about to start re-reading Gideon in preparation for reading Harrow the Ninth, which FINALLY came in at the library, so thanks for this fan art, excellent timing. Looking forward to making better sense of everything on the second readthrough, def gonna take notes this time 😅
Not me returning after finishing Gideon for the first time at 2:30am and absolutely sobbing look at how you drew these dumb gays (yes I am including dulcinea in that) (also I screeched at “I am undone without you”) absolutely incredible I am going to reread it immediately
I just read Harrow for second time and decided to go back and reread Godeon. I'm half way through Gideon again and I can't BELIEVE how much Muir just left our in the open. So much suddenly becomes so clear. The book basically tells you what is going on right from the start! Just unbelievable writing. I have never read a series that benefited from rereading more.
Now that tied on with your art is so amazing, I just passed this scene yesterday and ot leaves your heart so full but also just aching.
And finally, wow the costumes are fantastic! Amazing work.
AAAH so good! I love this series to death and your costumes and art are just wonderful. (I'm just about to start Nona the Ninth, so this has me hyped even more to dive back into the world of the locked tomb!)
alright, it's settled, I'm going to finally read this *sprints to the public library and kindly asks for directions to their bizarre lesbian sci-fi section*

AMAZING! I had no idea this series I randomly picked up during the pandemic would become my new obsession either. I've been re-reading Gideon and making annotations the same way I do when I'm re-reading stuff to teach in my AP Lit class and on this re-read I'm noticing SO MANY clues to the ending/beyond and just how all the pieces of the story fit together. Such brilliant writing. I'm planning to re-read Harrow as well. Even though it was emotionally scarring the first time. 😭
