Y’all, I REALLY LOVE THIS BOOK (the book is Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir). It’s got a complex plot that refuses to explain itself and deliciously crunchy system of magic and a bizarre, utterly unique setting, and then there are MOMENTS LIKE THIS that somehow check every box I didn’t know I had for ‘weirdo lesbian wish fulfillment’ (😳🙈 what if I was your bodyguard and you were my childhood enemy and I almost died on your behalf while being cradled by a waifish older woman, also magic burned away your clothes but more importantly your ceremonial paint so I could see your face for the first time ever 🙈 😳 and we were both girls?)
also then we dressed as them for Halloween because, how could we NOT:
Amazing 💀 💖 I read Gideon and harrow both (and loved them dearly) for the first time earlier this year while recovering from facial feminization surgery… boy howdy, is HtN an intense read if you are in the middle of recovering from a bunch of facial surgery, given the content of that book 😅

By the way,have you read HtN?If yes,what are your thoughts abt it?It was sort of confusing to me,though I haven't re-read yet to sort some stuff out...
