shoutout to my exvangelical husband for giving me some pointers about the gay parts of the Bible...I have a lot of thoughts around resurrection myths in Christian societies and how the Holmes canon plays with but also subverts that archetype, which I will hopefully be able to explore in a semi coherent fashion in coming stories!
the combination of holmes' shoulder-length hair and receding hairline has bewitched me however the sight of that greasy limp tendril in watson's tender grasp has convinced me the man simply cannot responsibly care for a long style :( tragically beautiful :( #ShearThatThing
The line "It is easy to pledge love when one is facing death." really takes on a different connotation when you remember that Watson was a military man. We've seen one of his boyfriends from back then and while they're still in contact that relationship didn't hold up outside the army. Watson's line doesn't come from some sort of nebulous idea or belief, it comes from experience. He knows.
Ohh, I’m an idiot. Only on a reread did I notice that the last panel is him going outside to make sure that it actually wasn’t a delusion and the hole in the window is what fully confirms it for him.
That… does have some not so great implications for whether Watson dealt too great with Holmes death (and by “dealt too great” I mean, “Did he fully disconnect from reality at times?”).
It could be fine, it could just be that Holmes coming back is really shocking and unbelievable. But it’s just slightly concerning how quick he was to fully accept the idea that he might have hallucinated a whole day.
"How did Peter grieve, I wonder, when he was bereft a second time?" OOF... ow.
I loved that line 😮💨

He's done this before.
Also what!? I've reached the present?? I have to wait? This is a crime.
“Holmes = Jesus” was not on my Watson’s Sketchbook bingo card but I’m not complaining
and this is a very emotionally weighted moment in a complicated relationship and all but LONG HAIR HOLMES ⭐️
I really love this perception of how it must feel to Watson to have Holmes return. His poor heart.
These are just gorgeous to look at and riveting to read. Thank you for making them!
