Yay for art of folks with extra pegs for the walking 🥰🫶🏼 I’m using a cane maybe more and before I truly NEED to, because I don’t want to get to that point and have no skills or awareness of the new type and amount of space ambulation takes up. I have to think about whether what I’m wearing will be in my way; be aware of balancing weight with an extra pressure point; and be sure not to put my peg down on my poor old man cat who loves to follow me around the apartment.

This is wonderful :) I love the teenager characters outfit- they seem like stuff I would def haha! And thanks for sharing the books you’ve been reading.

One of my goals for the new year is to read more books about queer history and try and connect more with the history of queerness so I’m definitely adding some of these books to my list to check out!

Boy do I have a novel rec for you! It's called 'How to be Both' by Ali Smith. It follows a young questioning girl who uncovers a female artist from the 1400s who made a life by presenting as male. Written in two parts - from each woman's perspective and time period. Made me fascinated with the themes you mentioned!

Fascinating! I love meeting characters for the first time and seeing a story evolve. Wherever this goes, I look forward to seeing more about it!

I love the imagery of a chain with invisible links! It reminds me of something I really loved from Sens8, the concept of the Archipelago, the chain of islands connected beneath surface. You can really picture chain buried in the sand. Even the imagery of trying to unbury the links… it’s a lot harder than you think to pull something from under the sand. If you’re not personally familiar, take it from the dashed dreams of hidden beach treasures… There are hidden anchor points deep beneath the sand, which is also heavy. You could work all day to dig out feet upon feet and at the bottom it will be just as stuck.

Also another line from a Shane Koyczan poem, “Remember How We Forgot”: (super worthy 6 minutes of your time. definitely recommend the recorded version with Hannah Epperson on the violin, it has my favorite cadence). “And we believe ourselves to be members of this family. Not just one branch on one tree, but a forest that makes up a dynasty, so when I call you sis or bro.. it’s not lightly.”

Going to school in New England is wild because we actually read excerpts from Portrait of Mr. W.H. In our Shakespeare section in high school. I just forget how lucky we are to even be represented in our lesson plans. I will have to brush off some of my Crapstone project historiography to see if I have anything else noted for that time period.

(Also leaving that bc it’s like

Me: after all this time?

Autocorrect changing it from Capstone to Crapstone: Always)

Acne scars! I have those, too! Also I had thought the theory that Shakespeare's sonnets were to a man was a relatively new idea, so I absolutely must look into Oscar Wilde's story.
