Oh man molly this was such a treat. Reading your work is always awesome but theres something so measured and keen within your sherlocks… incredible story, art, and analysis! I’m 100% on board.
Truly a FASCINATING (/pos) take, I am forever in awe of your storytelling skills. The dialogue and action flows so well, not to mention its clarity while limiting tones and number of lines. The pages between "I have been expecting you" and Milverton's bloody glasses is SO cool, I can't stop reading through it, like, the staging when Milverton says "Wait, I have been fair!" is literally genius: how did you manage to depict all 3 characters in clear, characterizing poses and the 2 relevant props, plus the background, all in a composition that carries the eye around and is dramatic while still being economical on pacing and space?? Like sheesh, I don't mean to get excessive. But this stuff is what makes me want to work in comics! Very inspiring and professional work.
The chair business is honest to god one of my largest motivators at the gym. I want Rick O’Connell in The Mummy levels of chair handling skills. 1 hand, like a shotput, chair eviscerated
I loved this so much!! It's so interesting how the inconsistencies encourage us to take a closer, more careful look at these stories. This retelling was particularly fantastic.
I didn't remember this story very well, but now that I read the descryption of the Lady, I must say, your retelling feels genius to me. I love it when people love stories so much they fill in the gaps in ways that feel plausible, and this certainly does, especially within this reading
I love this insight and personal twist on the story! To be honest it was previously one of those Holmes stories I read once and then never thought of again (aside from a reflexive and instinctual paeon "Blackmailers get their due!"), not reading deeply enough and glossing over for more exciting stories. But this version is deeply compelling, and is the part of a romance arc that always hooks me fast.
OBSESSED! i love when there are these longer comic retellings of a whole story, and i was so excited to see how this one would end. thank you so much for sharing these, they bring me so much joy.
