This comic is set in and was inspired by the Joshua Tree area, which was called the Oasis of Mara by its former inhabitants: the Serrano, Chemehuevi, Mojave, and Cahuilla people. I am drawing it on unceded Tongva land.
I looooove the stylistic choice of the flashback being in full color and the present (presumably) being black and white! that's such a cool reversion of a popular trope! and this story looks super engaging already, im excited for more!
This has been so lovely to read! Amazing to see the full first chapter out in the wild after talking with you about it too, now I'm the dark and can see where it all goes from here.
