Color once again by Maarta Laiho! On this final update, I’d like to once again thank Phoenix Mendoza and Mey Rude for sensitivity reading, and Eli Spencer for designing Laura.
This is the end of DARKEST NIGHT, although I’ll have an afterword going out next week. Thank you again for reading, especially the folks who subscribed when that was an option. Sharing work on the internet has been very weird for me for the last couple of years, but this newsletter became a safe and exciting place to tell a story that meant a lot to me. There’s something magical about webcomics and about writing a story as it’s being read; the way the story changes and evolves through others’ perceptions. So thank you, for being a part of it ♥
Also! I’ve received a lot of questions about whether it will be published as a graphic novel, and I can happily say YES IT WILL! DARKEST NIGHT (under a different title) will be coming out from Scholastic next year - more details to come!
Thank you so so much for sharing such a vivid, emotional story with us. In a mediascape blossoming with stories of the sort, your visceral allegory for trauma and the burdens we intergenerationaly inherit is one of the most impactful and memorable I've seen yet. I'm going to miss reading each new installment covertly at work each Friday morning, but I'm already excited to hold it in print next year.
No!!!!!!!!! Oh my god!!!!!!!!!! The uncle was there the whole time!!!!!!!!!!!! Losing it!!!!!!!!
Also, sad to see it end but happy to have been along for the ride! And what an ending! Congrats on the publishing!
